Rafting
On the 16th of June, 2002, The "Cemaes Crew", consisting of committee members, Linda, Hillary, Jane, Llinos, Steve & Ken, set out for the wilds of Bala in an effort to raise funds for the Cemaes Bay Branch of the R.N.L.I., by attempting a sponsored Whitewater Raft Race. Accompanied by numerous supporters, this foolhardy bunch of "nutters" had initially to undergo a "crash course" (on dry land) in the basic skills required to ensure that the same number of "rafters" that started the "run", finished it.

After the first wet" dry run", which was intended to familiarize them with the hazards of the course, the "timed" run was undertaken and for just under four minutes (3 minutes, 59 seconds, to be precise), the "crew" battled against the elements, themselves and the other competitors, in an effort to complete the course in the fastest time possible. As a reward (???) for their gallant efforts, a final "fun run" was organized, the result of which was, that what little part of the crew's anatomy which they had managed to keep dry, succumbed to a force of 10 tonnes of Welsh water a minute flowing through their "nether garments". However, all the pain, suffering and physical discomfort was deemed worthwhile when it was revealed that their efforts had resulted in the "The Cemaes Crew", not only finishing joint twelfth in the competition (out of 36 teams), but they had raised sponsorship for the R.N.L.I. of over £850.00.
