Cemlyn Lifeboat

In 1882, Cemlyn became the first lifeboat station established on Anglesey, by the "Anglesey Association for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck", an organization which was taken over by the R.N.L.I.in1885.The lifeboat was transferred to Cemaes in 1872 as it was difficult to raise a good crew from the Cemlyn area, but in 1887, following representations from the local residents, it was reopened as there were then more suitable men living locally. The station survived another attempt at closure in 1912, again due to local intervention and a new reserve lifeboat was stationed there until 1918 when it finally closed.
