Penmon Lifeboat

The Penmon Lifeboat, as with the
Cemlyn Lifeboat, was placed by the Anglesey Association. The lifeboat house
being presented by Sir Richard William Bulkeley, and was located in a position
commanding both entrances to the Sound which meant that the lifeboat, whilst on
her carriage, was able to be launched in either direction. In 1855 the merger
with the R.N.L.I. took place and in 1880 a new boathouse and slipway were
constructed, costing £1,132, the slipway being replaced, yet again in 1896 at a
cost of £735. During the life of Penmon Lifeboat there were over seven Silver
Medals and Silver Medal Clasps awarded to the crewmen in recognition of their
acts of bravery and in 1915 the Penmon Lifeboat station closed, following the
establishment of the Beaumaris station in 1914.
