If you enjoy walking then Cemaes is the place for you. Many of the most
popular walks are described in "The essential guide to Cemaes
Anglesey", obtainable from the Heritage Centre, located in the High
Street or by clicking here.
This is also a good place to start a short but interesting walk.
Follow the down the steps adjacent to the Heritage Centre, and this will
bring you to the Valley of the Otter. Turn right at the bottom of the
steps and you can follow the river Wygyr upstream, surrounded by pleasant
woodland, wild-flowers and the sounds of the water. Cross the small bridge
and follow the river down stream. This side of the river was in fact
a tram-way taking bricks from the Brick Works to Cemaes harbour.
During your walk you will see
evidence of the old trackway, including rails and metal sleepers, and
almost at the end of the walk you will pass through the old Railway Arch,
finishing at the harbour and the Beach Car Park.
